Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant Reference #: PFSFAB160525 Duration of employment: Permanent full-time position Employer: International Oil Gas Corporation Location: Downtown Calgary This is an in-office position. Starting Date: ASAPWork hours: 9:00-5:00 (1-hr. lunch break) Compensations: $108K-115K (DOE) plus benefits (after the 3-month probation period) and performance-based bonus Benefits: Extended Health, Dental, RRSP, Long term disability, Life insurance, etc. Main Job duties: General Accounting: - Review daily transactions and calculations from junior accountants, including receivables, payables, accruals, joint-interest billings, and inventory. - Support Company Accountants with complex quarterly/annual transactions such as DD&A, ARO, taxes, derivatives, and transfer pricing. - Post routine and recurring entries into the accounting system. - Participate in ad-hoc projects to improve internal processes. - Help monitor financial performance of businesses/projects. Financial Accounting: - Lead financial reporting and closing processes, maintaining the closing calendar and tracking deliverables. - Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements, tax calculations, budget comparisons, and consolidation packages. - Develop and update accounting policies aligned with IFRS and corporate standards; draft and present accounting memos. Internal Controls: - Maintain documentation of Business Level Controls (BLCs) to ensure compliance with HQ guidelines. - Support internal audits by providing necessary documents and samples. - Review and assist with IT General and Application Controls to safeguard information systems. Budgeting: - Develop KPIs and monitor those impacting profitability. - Assist with project economic models and ensure accurate forecasting. Taxes: - Collaborate on tax planning, reporting, and compliance, including GST, income tax provisions, and annual filings. - Monitor tax legislation changes and assist in calculating provisions and disclosures. - Support APA processes and communicate with tax authorities (CRA, OGC). - Prepare memos and analysis on new transactions to determine tax impacts and improve departmental efficiency. Other duties as required Minimum Requirements: Education: - Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) acquired with 3 to 5 years of post-designation experience. - Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred. Experience: - Full understanding of IFRS and experience in financial statements and annual notes is required. - Experience in work related to investments in partnership interests, joint ventures and operational oil and gas accounting considered an asset. - Experience in Corporate Tax filings, preparation and compliance. - Experience and understanding of large financial systems/software (Qbyte preferred). - Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions to day-to-day problems. Skills: - Ability to adapt to a changing work environment; as well as the ability to learn new tasks easily. - Time management skills are essential. Sound independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload. Perform well under pressure and able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. - Good communication skills with the ability to integrate into a small but close team environment. - Computer literate.
