Responsibilities Reporting to the Facility Manager at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Lethbridge Laboratory, the incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the operation and maintenance of computerized building management control systems, central sewage sterilization plants, and the laboratorygrade water treatment plant, as well as performing other related duties as assigned. Conditions of Employment Reliability Status security clearance. Essential Requirements Education - A Fourth-Class Alberta Power Engineer Certificate or higher, or an equivalent provincial Power Engineer certificate eligible for Alberta transfer. Experience - Minimum two (2) years experience in operating and maintaining one or more of the following: Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, highpressure steam plants, air compression systems, refrigeration systems, laboratorygrade water treatment plant(s), distributed sterilization systems, laboratory and scientific equipment, central heating, ventilation and airconditioning (HVAC) plant(s). Knowledge - Power engineering principles as they apply to heating and power plants. - Heating, ventilation, airconditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. - Standards, codes and provincial regulations applicable to heating and power plants. Abilities and Skills - Resolve operating problems using troubleshooting techniques. - Read and interpret blueprints and engineering manuals. - Communicate effectively verbally. - Communicate effectively in writing.
