About the role Were looking for a Manager, Specialty Solutions Construction to lead a highperforming team, develop profitable business, and achieve corporate and divisional objectives across the Western, Ontario & Atlantic portfolios. Responsibilities - Build a strong book of profitable business while auditing policies to ensure adherence to company standards. - Coach underwriters and assist in negotiating with brokers on larger opportunities. - Train brokers and underwriting staff on underwriting matters. - Communicate regularly with key broker contacts on accounts, plans and results. - Collaborate with the Business Development Team to reinforce broker portfolio performance. - Manage employee performance and contribute to the salary review process. - Hold regular team meetings to communicate corporate and branch issues and address employee concerns. - Participate in the establishment of premium and loss ratio targets. - Authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals and endorsements. - Promote the companys products through information sessions with brokers. - Develop and manage effective working relationships with brokers, staff, and other departments. - Establish and maintain service levels by organizing and monitoring workflow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. - Set goals and monitor the development of underwriting staff to ensure achievement of the department Business Plan. Qualifications - University and/or College Degree or any combination of equivalent education and experience. - Minimum 8 years of experience in P&C underwriting for large accounts and experience in people management. - Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset. - Capable of managing remote employees and motivating, engaging, and coaching them. - Effective analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills. - Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. - Ability to work in a constantly changing environment. - Strong customer service orientation. - No Canadian work experience required; must be eligible to work in Canada. Compensation Salary range (but not limited to): 138,500 - 169,300. Annual bonus target: 15%, with a potential payout up to double the target based on base salary and company performance.
