Job Title: Azure Local VDI / Azure Infrastructure Engineer Location: Edmonton (Onsite 5 Days a Week) Engagement Type: C2C / Self-Employed Contract Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) / VDI environments and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and high-performance Azure-based infrastructure solutions, with a strong focus on virtual desktop environments and hybrid cloud architectures. This is a full-time onsite (5 days/week) C2C / self-employed role based in Edmonton, Canada. Key Responsibilities: - Design, implement, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) / VDI environments - Deploy and maintain Azure infrastructure, including: - Virtual Machines (VMs) - Virtual Networks (VNets) - Azure Active Directory (AAD) - Storage Accounts - Manage hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premise systems with Azure - Configure and manage Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and VDI platforms - Monitor system performance, availability, and security using Azure monitoring tools - Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions - Perform patching, upgrades, and infrastructure optimization - Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards - Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and VDI-related issues - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, networking, application teams) - Maintain proper documentation for architecture, configurations, and processes Required Skills & Experience: - Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Infrastructure - Proven expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) / VDI solutions - Solid knowledge of: - Azure Active Directory (AAD) & Identity Management - Networking (VPN, ExpressRoute, DNS, Load Balancers) - Windows Server & virtualization technologies - Experience working in hybrid cloud environments - Proficiency in PowerShell / scripting for automation - Strong understanding of Azure security, compliance, and governance - Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or similar tools - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Preferred Qualifications: - Microsoft Certifications: - Azure Administrator Associate - Azure Solutions Architect Expert - Experience with: - Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager - FSLogix profile management - Citrix / VMware Horizon (nice to have) - Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / ARM templates) Work Environment: - Onsite role (5 days/week) in Edmonton, Canada - Contract-based engagement (C2C / Self-employed) - Long-term project with enterprise-level client exposure Soft Skills: - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills - Ability to work independently and within a team - Excellent time management and adaptability in dynamic environments
