Venor is proud to partner with our client L&A Metalworks in their search for a General Manager for their manufacturing facility in Fredericton, NB.L&A Metalworks Inc. is a trusted metal fabricator serving a select group of OEMs that supply critical infrastructure to industrial clientsincluding oil refineries and power-generating plants. With a reputation for precision and reliability, L&A manufactures complex, made-to-print process systems designed for gas flow diversion and pollution extraction.The General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for L&A Metalworks, overseeing all aspects of the business from shop floor performance and project delivery to business development and financial health. This role is responsible for upholding the companys legacy of quality craftsmanship while driving sustainable growth and ensuring L&A remains a trusted partner for contractors, utilities, engineering firms, and municipalities across North America.What youll be doing:Set and execute the companys strategic direction, annual business plan, and long-term growth objectivesLead and support a senior team including project managers, estimators, operations, and financeOversee project portfolio performance, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and client satisfactionChampion L&As quality assurance culture and ensure compliance with all certifications (CWB, CSA, ASME, CISC, Controlled Goods)Build and maintain relationships with key clients, contractors, engineering firms, and government agenciesIdentify and pursue new business opportunities across target industries and geographiesMonitor financial performance, approve major expenditures, and report to ownership on resultsEnsure a safe, skilled, and engaged workforce, support retention of experienced tradespeople and supervisorsRepresent L&A Metalworks in industry associations, client meetings, and with regulatory bodiesWhat we are looking for:10+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial constructionDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a project-driven environmentStrong understanding of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum fabrication processes; familiarity with welding standards (CSA, AWS, ASME) is a strong assetProven track record in business development and client relationship managementFinancial acumen with experience managing P&L and capital planningExcellent communication and negotiation skillsPost-secondary education in engineering, business, or a related field preferredAt Venor and L&A MetalWorks, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
