The Opportunity Douglas College is seeking a reliable and efficient Manager, Maintenance and Operations to provide leadership to the College in planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs and minor capital infrastructure renovation projects involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset. - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management training is considered an asset. - Five to seven years of directly related work experience in a large, complex multi-location environment (preferably in a unionized, public-sector environment). - Extensive knowledge of building systems and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building automation systems. - Proven experience developing specifications and implementing building equipment and systems improvement projects. - Strong understanding of energy efficiency programs and sustainable maintenance practices. - Demonstrates strong initiative and sound judgment and can lead projects and manage priorities independently. - Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues and recommend effective, practical solutions. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, and PowerPoint with advanced knowledge in Excel. Experience with maintenance management or project management software is an asset. - Demonstrated abilities that align with the Douglas College Core Competency Framework. - Regular hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. - Travel between Douglas Colleges locations as required. - On-call 24 hours a day in case of emergency from unexpected equipment or building systems malfunction.
