Job Summary The Summer Camp Counsellor serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge at the Cor Van Raay YMCA by implementing and managing summer camp programming. The main goals of this position are: 1. Ensuring participants are following proper safety guidelines 2. Leading summer camp activities and supervising participants 3. Ensuring adherence to the highest level of Child Protection and Health and Safety 4. $19.50 per hour 5. 2 month contract Key Relationships - YMCA of Lethbridge summer camp staff and participants - Summer Camp Coordinator - Director, Community Programs Nature & Scope - Implementing summer camp programming and leading various activities - Acting as a leader in health and safety, ensuring the highest level of standards are maintained within summer camp - Fostering and developing a strong culture and sense of community within summer camp operations with staff and participants - Demonstrating and championing SAM Standards daily throughout the facility - Attending, supporting, and participating in all required YMCA training, recertifications, and inservice trainings Physical Demands - This position involves prolonged physical activity - This position involves active instruction of YMCA summer camp programming - This position involves the ability to lift 20kgs - This position involves working a flexible schedule with minimal additional time off Qualifications - Interest and/or education in Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or other Human Services - Experience in a youth serving and/or recreation program (considered an asset) - Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certifications - Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check - Evidence of an acceptable Child Intervention Check - Three professional references required - As this position is subject to grant funding through Canada Summer Jobs, applicants must meet the programs eligibility criteria.
