We encourage a corporate culture that respects and celebrates the dignity, value and diversity of all.Role OverviewOur Calgary office is currently seeking an energetic, team-oriented and experienced real estate paralegal with a focus on commercial financing work to join our Calgary team. This individual will work alongside professionals within the Banking & Finance and Real Estate Groups and report to the Senior Director of Paralegals and Law Clerks.The successful candidate will be responsible for:Coordinating due diligence searches, together with review, interpretation, and summarization of results, including charges and encumbrances registered against title.Managing complex commercial lending and real estate transactions, including the drafting of legal documentation, reports and filings related to all facets of the transaction.Preparing, reviewing, and coordinating execution of loan and security documentation.Preparing and registering title documentation and security in land title offices and other government registries.Liaising with internal and external parties and facilitation of closings, including coordination of financing payouts and status and final reporting.Effecting registration of all documents, and completion of status, and final reports related to financings, acquisitions, and dispositions of commercial properties.The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:6+ years of experience working as a paralegal on commercial lending and real estate transactions. Paralegal certificate and/or university degree from an accredited institution.Possess a broad foundation of legal concepts, experience, and applications relevant to the practice of real estate law.Advanced, practical knowledge of secured lending documentation, land registration systems, title insurance, and due diligence processes.Fully proficient in using the Alberta Land Titles and Surveys Spatial Information System.Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent time management skills and prioritization skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure. Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
