As an Aircraft Structures Technician in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), youll be responsible for maintaining aircraft structures, helping keep military aircraft safe and mission-ready. These include: Competitive salary starting from $4,337 - $6,413/month for new recruits who join the Regular Force under the Direct Entry plan New pay increases: earn more from the start Signing Bonus paid in installments at key service milestones Paid education and training opportunities Vacation, parental, and other types of paid leave Health, dental, and vision coverage Counseling, and relocation support services Pension plan Stimulating workplace that promotes respect, belonging, and work-life balance Overview As an Aircraft Structures Technician, your primary duties are to: Inspect aircraft structures and related components Restore or repair defects using unique aircraft fastening hardware, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, composite materials, chemicals, adhesives, paints and textiles Weld base metals, alloys and casting materials, using oxyacetylene, electrical arc, inert gas and resistance welding techniques and equipment Manufacture original aircraft equipment, components or replacement items from base metals using special cutting tools, engine lathe and milling machines Fabricate and repair aircraft structures using composite, fibreglass, textiles, leather, plastic and synthetic components Maintain life support equipment, ejection seats, fire suppression and oxygen systems Perform aircraft handling tasks, including parking, towing, marshalling, starting, refuelling, cleaning and de-icing You will find a comprehensive list of the primary duties on the forces.ca website. This position is similar to the following: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Structures Aircraft Structures Maintenance Technician To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must: Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada; Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except: For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent); For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student; Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Qubec (some jobs need higher levels of education). Required Education The minimum required education to apply for this position is the completion of the provincial requirements for Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec including Gr 10 General Math or Math 416 / CST 4 in Quebec. Foreign education may be accepted. Direct Entry Plan The ideal candidate will already have a college diploma, the CAF will decide if your academic program matches the training criteria for this job and may place you directly into any required on-the-job training program following basic training.
