Permanent Full-Time Head Caretaker Location: Jennie Emery Elementary School Position Overview The Palliser School Division is committed to fostering empathy, integrity, respect, trust, and responsibility. This permanent fulltime Head Caretaker position, located at Jennie Emery Elementary School (Grades 13), is scheduled to begin on May 25, 2026. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students and staff. Responsibilities Work hours: 7:30am11:30am and 1:30pm5:30pm MondayThursday; 7:30am4:00pm Friday and school Professional Development days (break 12:0012:30pm). During Easter, Christmas Reading Week, and Summer, the shift runs 7:30am4:00pm with the same break. Perform custodial duties including dusting, damp mopping, vacuuming, cleaning washrooms, fixtures, partitions, desks, counters, doors, windows, and blackboards. Handle additional duties as assigned, including heavy lifting when required. Operate heating, mechanical, and power equipment safely and, where appropriate, conduct minor routine maintenance. Follow safety, fire, and security protocols and manage cleaning chemicals responsibly. Qualifications High school diploma Valid Building Operator Certificate B or 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate Minimum of 2years related custodial experience Good communication and interpersonal skills Skills and Competencies Demonstrated ability to perform all custodial functions Knowledge of heating and mechanical systems operation Knowledge of cleaning products and disinfecting procedures Ability to operate and perform minor routine maintenance on all power equipment Knowledge of health and safety, fire and security protocols Knowledge of safe chemical management practices Basic spill cleanup procedures for blood and minor chemical spills Strong planning and organizational skills Physical capacity to meet job demands Mentor, supervise, and train custodial staff Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with Division software programs Successful Criminal Reference Check, including vulnerable sectors, within 3months of contract start date Benefits Comprehensive paid benefits through the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (ASEBP) #J-18808-Ljbffr
