About the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service The Alberta Sheriffs Police Service (ASPS) was created in July 2025, and once operational, will strengthen Albertas existing policing model and complement the provinces current police services, which includes the RCMP, Indigenous policing services and municipal police. It will help fill gaps and ensure law enforcement resources are deployed efficiently to meet Albertas evolving public safety needs and improve law enforcement response times, particularly in rural communities. Responsibilities Accountable to the Chief, the Executive Director Information & Technology (IT) is a strategic and operational leader responsible for leading, designing and implementing IT governance and systems for the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service (ASPS). This highimpact role leads, shapes and modernizes the ASPS enterprise applications while ensuring operational excellence across a diverse and missioncritical portfolio. As a member of the ASPS executive team, the Executive Director builds and manages IT infrastructure and IT systems for ASPS, ensuring the Services IT environment, equipment, and operations are accountable, scalable, meet provincial policing standards, fiscally responsible, and support safe, modern, and responsive police service delivery. Executive level competencies include adaptability, agility, and inclusive, decisive leadership. Qualifications Executive Director role requires extensive senior/executive leadership experience and a strong understanding of government accountability, legislation, policy, and public administration. The candidate provides strategic direction for IT and business services in a complex policing environment, with deep knowledge of police operations, justice system programs, and stakeholder dynamics. Proven seniorlevel IT leadership, including capital planning and project implementation, is essential. Strong financial and political acumen for evidencebased decisionmaking, briefing executives on critical issues, and building an integrated, servicefocused culture that advances equity, diversity, and inclusion.
