SSenior Internal Communications Advisor Health & Safety (Contract) Calgary, AB (Onsite) Fulltime Contract | May 2026 January 2027 A leading Canadian energy organization is seeking an experienced Senior Internal Communications Advisor, Health & Safety, to provide strategic communications leadership in support of its Health & Safety function. Reporting to a senior leader within Internal Communications, this role plays a key part in reinforcing safety as a core organizational value and supporting the safety of employees, contractors, communities, and the environment. This is a senior advisory contract role suited for a communications professional with strong oil & gas experience and a proven ability to translate complex, technical information into clear, engaging, and impactful communications. Contract Details Duration: May 2026 January 2027 Hours: MondayFriday, 40 hours/week Location: Onsite Calgary, AB (Downtown) Positions Available: 1 (up to 3 submissions) Pay Rate: $65$70/hour , based on experience About the Role The Senior Advisor, Health & Safety Communications, will lead the planning, development, and delivery of integrated communications strategies that strengthen safety culture, behaviours, and performance across the organization. The role acts as a trusted advisor to senior Health & Safety leaders, providing strategic counsel on messaging, positioning, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with internal communications, external communications, and operations communications teams to ensure alignment and impact across channels. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute comprehensive Health & Safety communications strategies, plans, and campaigns Provide strategic communications advice and coaching to Health & Safety leadership and subject matter experts Lead communications related to safety culture, behaviours, occupational safety, deployed safety, and process safety Translate complex technical, regulatory, and operational information into clear and engaging communications Support regulatory, compliance, and mandatory safety communications with clarity and accuracy Plan and support Health & Safety awareness events and campaigns Prepare communications materials for Health & Safety town halls, including presentations and Q&A Manage and update Health & Safety content on internal and external digital platforms Measure communication effectiveness and apply insights to improve outcomes Provide strategic communications guidance to senior Health & Safety executives Present communications updates at monthly Health & Safety leadership meetings Support communications for governance and risk oversight forums Contribute to external and annual publications (e.g., sustainability or corporate responsibility reporting) Qualifications 810 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or a related field Oil & gas or energy sector experience strongly preferred Proven experience advising senior leaders and influencing at an executive level Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and crisis communications Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline Why This Opportunity This contract offers the opportunity to work at a senior strategic level within a large, complex energy organization, with direct exposure to executive leadership and the ability to influence safety culture at scale.
