Because at uOttawa, you belong!**Position Purpose:**Reporting to the Director, Sponsored Research Services, the Manager, Large-scale Grants PostAward Support, strengthens the Universitys capacity to manage largescale and complex research awards. Leads a specialized team responsible for establishing the structures, guidance, and oversight needed for effective postaward implementation for large-scale grants. By providing expert support to researchers and ensuring strong governance and compliance with funder and institutional requirements, the role mitigates risk, improves operational efficiency, and enables research teams to deliver successful, highimpact transformational outcomes.**In this role, your responsibilities will include:*** **Strategic Priorities and Initiatives**: Designs and plans strategies and services for supporting and implementing large scale and/or complex research grants and more specifically the post-awards steps and processes. Overseeing the Large-Scale Grant Post-Award Units portfolio of projects, ensuring effective prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management. Leads discussions with Nominated Principal Investigator (NPI), and NPI-hired manager or coordinator to provide guidance and high-level training and oversight to institutional coordination early-on in their project. Ensures that large-scale research projects are built on robust, strategically aligned budgets and executed on time, fully meeting the guidelines and priorities set by the granting agency.* **Reports:** Spearhead the development of highimpact institutional reports for multimilliondollar federal and multisector grants, driving strategic oversight while strengthening external accountability and compliance. Develop support mechanisms for researchers in the preparation of sponsor-mandated deliverables such as mid-term and annual progress reports, EDI action plan, Data management and governance plans. Conducts research and surveys, and compiles data, statistics and other information related to research activities and post-awards steps. Uses this information to provide advice and recommendations and to help with long-term strategic planning of resources to support the increase in large-scale grants secured by the institution.* **Human Resources:** Directs all aspects of human resources management of the Large-Scale Grant Post-Award Unit members including recruitment, training and development, performance management, resource planning, goal setting, discipline etc. Ensures the team has the training and tools needed to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. Implements a functional structure to ensure staff are well coordinated and efficiently organized. Leads a team culture that focuses on continuous improvement, anticipating needs of internal and external stakeholders and prioritizes service excellence. Stays abreast of trends and best practices within the project management sector and specifically within research project management. Share knowledge with the team and with the greater research community.* **Advisory Services and Liaison:** Provides researchers with expert guidance and serves as a liaison with other research support services to ensure the successful implementation of funded research projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist with project launch (including account set up, agreement execution and subgrants), support complex human resource planning and recruitment, develop and monitor performance indicator, coordinate reporting and mid-term review, help with project closure (including no-cost extensions). Provides expertise and consultation on interinstitutional research initiatives and works with other institutions to support funded initiatives so that they comply with granting agencies requirements.* **Planning for Units activities and cost recovery process:** Plans and oversees the Units activities and costrecovery processes. Conceptualizes, develops, and maintains internal procedures and a financial tracking system to ensure the longterm sustainability of the LargeScale Grant PostAward Units budget.* **Operations:** Analyzes and interprets granting agencies requirements and guidelines and solves complex post-award administrative problems in a timely manner. Directs and implements post-award management processes for large-scale, interdisciplinary funded grants to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of sponsors regulation and delivery of funding to researchers at the uOttawa and their multiples collaborators. Authorizes the opening of accounts and credits of funds for awarded grants and contracts. Develops and implements internal project management regulations and procedures in order to improve efficiency and strategic collaboration with other relevant post-award sectors (HR, Finance, IT, facility...)* **Training and Guidance:** Designs and leads workshops and information sessions for researchers and their lab manager on how to manage large/complex research initiatives and on administrative procedures related to post-award research management in order to provide clarity and streamline the process.* **Promotion:** Develops, updates, and maintains communication tools (e.g., webpage, guides, etc..) to promote and clarify the Units services and tools. Works with internal and external actors to help promote University research outcomes so that researchers discoveries, research initiatives, inventions and other exceptional accomplishments garner visibility and publicity with the media and general public.**What you will bring:*** Masters degree with a strong research component in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience* A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in a research-intensive University or research administration.* 3 years of experience in supervision* Extensive knowledge of university policies, HR, procurement and Finance procedures and research management systems* Extensive knowledge of university post-award administration processes in complex de-centralized #J-18808-Ljbffr
