Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION The Student Affairs Coordinator will play an integral role in promoting, building and maintaining relations with students and academic affiliates. Reporting to the Director, Research and Academics, the incumbent will coordinate all activities to achieve the timely and appropriate placement and monitoring of student learners (practicum, internship, etc.) with qualified instructors in relevant clinical units and service areas of Ontario Shores. Key Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates all aspects of the Student Affairs program of Ontario Shores. Liaises with various internal and external stakeholders to plan and coordinate the placement of students in multiple professional and academic disciplines with relevant and qualified preceptors and supervisors from across multiple clinical and service areas of Ontario Shores. In collaboration with the Director and stakeholders, develops a program evaluation process for student placements and tracks, trends, and reports results on a regular basis. Informs university/college/business schools of required steps for students to secure placement at Ontario Shores (e.g., CPIC and occupational health requirements). Collaborates with clinical managers to negotiate the maximum student number capacity on unit, and to secure quality staff preceptor(s) or supervisor(s) for students. Maintains and updates a repository of affiliation agreements and certificates of insurance for universities, colleges and business schools on an annual basis. Coordinates and delivers the student orientation program including identifying key content, coordinating speakers, dates and space, and managing the evaluation process. Updates and maintains relevant website pages, including the Education and Student Affairs website. Develops and updates standard operating procedures. Coordinates the reception, investigation and mediation of complaints/concerns related to the program or individual students and facilitates resolution. Collaborates with team members to promote, coordinate and evaluate relevant educational events. Supports the Ontario Shores/Ontario Tech University microcredentials program through preparing for and chairing meetings, responding to inquiries from internal and external registrants, and meeting with external agencies as needed. Other duties as assigned. Requirements A college diploma in office/records management or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of related experience including coordination of student affairs. Working experience in a hospital environment. Demonstrated ability to establish programs and supporting processes. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Proven ability to assess inquiries and problems and to exercise good judgment in taking appropriate actions. Demonstrated ability to work productively and independently with frequent interruptions. Advanced computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. Proven good attendance with the ability to maintain this same standard. Ability to flex hours occasionally based on work demands. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
