About the Job Summary The Garden Engagement Intern will work with the Common Roots Urban Farm team and relevant partners to support community engagement activities, garden improvements and volunteer participation at the Woodside Common Roots Urban farm site on the grounds of the Nova Scotia Hospital. The position is designed to provide handson learning in communitybased food growing, facilitation, and public engagement. Key Responsibilities Assist with garden activities including bed preparation, seeding, cultivation, maintenance, and harvests. Engage with and support community gardeners, volunteers, and visitors, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Assist with washing, sorting, and postharvest preparation of produce and flowers for donation and distribution. Support the planning and delivery of garden events, workshops, and educational programming. Assist other EAC Food Team members with related tasks as needed to support farm operations. What You Bring Interest in or knowledge of gardening, local food systems, and/or communitybased work. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Comfortable with physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours as required. Strong oral and written communication skills; familiarity with social media and newsletter platforms is an asset. Interest in environmental sustainability and the role of community networks in addressing environmental and social challenges. Terms of Employment Fulltime; 5day, 30hour work week, MondayFriday with some evenings and weekends required. Remuneration: $21/hr. Term: May November 2026. 10 Wellness days, prorated.
