Job Description

The Sr. Architectural Technologist will take a leadership role in the technical aspects of architectural projects, ensuringaccuratedesign implementation and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to departmental growth. Primary Responsibilities Utilize your in-depth knowledge of architectural design principles, building codes, materials, and building methods to createaccurateand comprehensive architectural drawings and documentation. Prepare drawings of plans, elevations, cross sections, and details of buildings from rough sketches and/or from general engineering design information according to established standards and procedures. Develop and refine architectural plans, elevations, sections, and details using industry-standard CAD software and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. Work collaboratively in a team environment with other CAD Technicians, Architects and Engineers with minimal supervision. Produce design drawing packages suitable for site plan approval. Produce working drawings for permit application and tendering. Prepare and review documentationrequiredfor permits and approvals from relevant authorities. Participate in design meetings,providetechnicalinsights,and contribute to the development of innovative solutions. Stay current with local, national, and international building codes and regulations to ensure all architectural designs meet legal and safety standards. Actively promote and contribute to the successful completion of projects frominitialconcept through the planning process to implementation. Review and evaluate architectural drawings and documentation for accuracy, consistency, and adherence toestablishedstandards. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architectural technologists,assistingin their professional growth and development. Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams during the build phase to ensureaccurateinterpretation of architectural plans and specifications. Address on-site design challenges and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful project execution. Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in architectural design, building practices, and sustainability, integrating new knowledge into project workflows. Provide architectural comments and review of administration documents such as shop drawing submittals and RFIs. Review owner-directed changes or site conditions which cause revisions to the drawings and communicate updates back to the site team via supplemental instructions or change notices. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology orrelatedfield. 710 years of relevant experience in architectural technology, including technical leadership on projects. Proficiencyin AutoCAD and BIM software (e.g., Revit). Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning by-laws, and building systems. Experience producing working drawings and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor junior staff.
