Join our dynamic Day Camp team, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work! Day Camp Counsellors are responsible for the successful daytoday implementation of day camp programming for groups of up to twelve campers aged 4 to 12 years. The role ensures that all children and youth have a safe, positive, and engaging camp experience that supports personal growth and leadership development. Counsellors plan and lead a variety of activities, such as archery, canoeing/kayaking, fire building, slacklining, multisport, mountain biking, along with cooperative small and large group games! In this role, you will: - Ensure program plans are followed and campers experience a fun, safe, and engaging highquality camp environment - Participate enthusiastically in all camp programs with campers, including recreational swim - Build relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners - Attend all staff trainings and meetings, arriving on time and actively contributing to the development of all staff members - Ensure campers are safely supervised and supported at all times, providing opportunities for all participants to experience success - Ensure Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety and maintenance of camp sites - Act as a positive role model for all participants and staff by embodying the values of the YMCA, following all YMCA camp guidelines, policies, procedures, and Ontario Camps Association standards - Perform other duties as assigned You bring: - Minimum 17 years old by December 31st - Standard First Aid & CPRC required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract - Experience working with children preferred - Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail - Demonstrated ability to multitask and adapt to change - Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children - Welldeveloped interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers - Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently to achieve optimal collective results - Ability to deliver feedback in a timely and constructive manner to participants - Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging - Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services - YMCA Competencies: Accountable, RelationshipBuilder, ImprovementOrientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter The YMCA of Greater Toronto is committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.
