Job Description

Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Air Transport Security Authority The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority is the federal Crown corporation responsible for aviation security screening at 89 designated airports across Canada. The organization fulfills a critical security mandate by ensuring the secure and efficient movement of people and goods across Canadas air transportation network and internationally, contributing to economic growth and national security. The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority is funded by parliamentary appropriations and accountable to the Parliament of Canada through the Minister of Transport. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall leadership, management and direction of the organization, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of aviation security screening services across Canada. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is accountable for implementing the organizations strategic direction and corporate plan, and for achieving results in accordance with established priorities and performance expectations. The CEO oversees the day-to-day operations, including the management of screening operations delivered through thirdparty service providers, the stewardship of public funds, and the leadership of the executive team and broader workforce. The CEO establishes and maintains collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders of the aviation ecosystem. Education and Experience Please ensure that the information provided in your curriculum vitae and cover letter clearly demonstrates how you meet the following requirements: - A degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of equivalent education, training and jobrelated experience. - Significant experience as a Chief Executive Officer or Senior Executive within private or public sector organizations responsible for providing a vital service to the public in a similar area such as transportation or security, and of similar size, scope and complexity to the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority. - Significant experience in building and maintaining productive and effective multipartite relationships with partner organizations, diverse stakeholders, and senior government officials. - Significant experience managing human and financial resources at a senior executive level. - Experience reporting to a board would be considered an asset. - Experience in leading organizational transformation would be considered an asset. - Experience in a field directly related to transportation (particularly aviation), or security would be considered an asset. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following criteria will be assessed: - Knowledge of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authoritys mandate, mission, and strategic priorities. - Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the Chairperson, the Board of Directors, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, including fundamental accountabilities to the Government of Canada as shareholder. - Knowledge of the public policy environment facing a Crown corporation, and a general understanding of the legislative environment in which it operates, including the Financial Administration Act. - Knowledge of corporate governance, operational and strategic corporate planning, monitoring, and evaluation of corporate performance. - Superior communication skills, both written and oral. - Ability to act as a spokesperson in dealing with the media and other government or private organizations. - Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with a Board of Directors, business partners and stakeholders as well as senior government officials. - Proven ability to maintain operational continuity and provide strategic leadership during nationalscale emergencies or significant service disruptions. Language Requirements Proficiency in both official languages is preferred. The Government of Canada will consider bilingual proficiency when assessing applicants.
