Position OverviewTorus Talent is supporting a well-established, multi-discipline engineering consultancy in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Edmonton-based team.This firm delivers engineering solutions across complex heavy industrial and oil & gas projects, ranging from brownfield upgrades and retrofits to full-scale facility expansions.The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering mechanical and piping design solutions across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage design through to commissioning and start-up. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Further Responsibilities Include the Following Lead and support mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects Develop and review P&IDs and mechanical design deliverables Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, and other mechanical systems Support piping design, including material selection, layout input, and coordination with stress and design teams Prepare engineering deliverables including datasheets, equipment specifications, line lists, and construction work packages Review vendor documents and support procurement activities Provide field support, including construction support, commissioning, and system start-up Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical, and project managementIdeal Candidate Requirements Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline P.Eng. designation (APEGA) required 10+ years of consulting engineering experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments Strong experience with pressure equipment and piping systems Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA) Experience supporting projects across design, procurement, and construction phases Strong understanding of mechanical systems within industrial facilities Ability to work independently and manage project scopes with minimal oversight Strong communication and coordination skillsWhy This Firm Established and reputable engineering consultancy with a strong presence in the energy sector Exposure to a wide variety of projects across brownfield and greenfield environments Full project lifecycle involvement from concept through commissioning Collaborative, team-oriented environment with direct access to senior leadership Opportunity to work in a multi-discipline setting without the bureaucracy of larger firms Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits Strong focus on professional growth and developmentInterested candidates are encouraged to send their resume in word format to this posting or email .Torus and our clients are equal opportunity employers.
