Assistant/Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy The School of Occupational Therapy in Dalhousies Faculty of Health invites applications for a fulltime, probationary tenuretrack position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commencing July12026 (or as negotiated). About the Faculty of Health The Faculty of Health is one of the largest faculties at Dalhousie, comprising eight schools, one college, and one program, with over 1,000 employees and more than 3,000 students. It offers 45 academic programmes at the entry, graduate, and advanced professional levels. About the School of Occupational Therapy Established in 1982, the School of Occupational Therapy serves all four Atlantic provinces, fosters collaboration among academic partners, service providers, government agencies, and communities, and supports international research partnerships. The School offers two graduate degrees, one certificate, and three undergraduate courses and provides students with access to internationally recognised faculty within a learning environment grounded in collaborative inquiry and social accountability. Required Qualifications Educational Qualifications - A completed Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy, Occupational Science, Health, Rehabilitation Sciences, or a related discipline. Professional Qualifications - Eligibility for licensure with the Nova Scotia Occupational Therapy Regulator. - Demonstrated occupational therapy clinical practice experience. Scholarly Qualifications - Evidence of a developing or established research program relevant to occupational therapy or occupational science. - A record of scholarly productivity appropriate to the candidates career stage. - Alignment with one or more Faculty of Health priority areas (health equity and resilience; health and health systems transformation; body function and mobility). Teaching Qualifications - Demonstrated ability or strong potential to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. - Experience with curriculum development and integrated learning approaches that intentionally connect and build content across courses to support progressive competency development. - Commitment to inclusive, evidenceinformed, studentcentered pedagogy that incorporates Universal Design for Learning and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy. - Experience with fieldwork courses, simulation, and interprofessional education. Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Decolonization - Evidence of experience with, or commitment to, antioppressive and/or anticolonial approaches in teaching, research, or practice. Research Expectations The successful candidate is expected to establish and conduct a program of occupationbased research aligned with one or more of the Faculty of Healths priority research areas: - Health equity and resilience - Health and health systems transformation - Body function and mobility across the health continuum Teaching Responsibilities The successful candidate will contribute to highquality teaching within the Schools undergraduate and graduate programs. Responsibilities include: - Teaching core required and elective/specialised courses aligned with the Schools needs and the candidates expertise. - Designing and delivering engaging learning experiences that reflect contemporary occupational therapy theory and practice. - Employing integrated learning approaches that intentionally connect, sequence, and build upon content across courses to support students development of professional reasoning and competencies. - Mentoring and supervising students in thesisbased Masters and Ph.D. programs at Dalhousie. - Contributing to curriculum development, course coordination, and continuous pedagogical improvement. Service Responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to the School, Faculty, and University communities. Engagement at local, national, and international levels is encouraged to support continuous improvement in research, teaching, and learning at Dalhousie.
