Job Description

The Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) is a nonprofit organization that offers the Bar admission program in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia, and in Fall 2026 will also offer the Bar admission program in British Columbia as well. To be called to the Bar, students must complete their articles and CPLEDs Bar admission program, Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP). CPLED is dedicated to helping students hone their practical skills and assesses how well they are able to apply their legal knowledge and skills in everyday situations. This helps ensure new lawyers are well-equipped to meet the demands of the workplace. CPLED maintains a high standard of programs and services for students to ensure a strong transition into the legal profession. The Multimedia LMS Specialist will assist CPLED content development team members, including both full-time staff and contractors, to support the effective use of digital learning tools. The role partners with Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts to design and develop creative and engaging digital learning activities using a range of tools. These activities are integrated into the D2L Learning Management System, with the Specialist also supporting course builds and ongoing course development by leveraging new tools and the full capabilities of the D2L platform. Success in this position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, along with a strong passion for digital learning tools and technologies. The role also demands well-developed problemsolving abilities, relationshipbuilding expertise, project management capabilities, and a strong technical aptitude. Key Responsibilities: - Contribute to the development of multimedia learning content with the Instructional Designer(s) and subject matter experts (e.g., videos, simulations, case studies, gamification, AIdriven experiential scenarios, etc.), including developing, editing, formatting, and publishing to ensure an engaging learner experience. - Act as a staff resource for learning technology and multimedia support, including D2L/Brightspace tools, course content standards, and troubleshooting for system and delivery issues, while staying current on emerging learning technologies and sharing relevant insights and recommendations with the Programs Leadership Team. - Work with CPLED staff to improve and develop new and innovative methods of online delivery for CPLEDs programs. - Create and maintain user guides, job aids, and technical documentation (including multimedia howto resources), and troubleshoot technical issues for interest holders. - Ensure the accurate setup of D2L courses (PREP, LRW, law society courses, etc.). This includes the upload and maintenance of course content, imposing order and release schedules. - Apply accessibility and usability best practices for online learning materials (e.g., captions/transcripts when provided, accessible document structure, link and media standards). - Manage multimedia and course asset organization (file naming, version control, storage/retrieval practices). - Ensure the learning management system is optimally configured and accurately maintained. - Stay informed of D2L updates and new innovations through the Brightspace Community, attendance at D2L meetings, and training provided. Apply learnings to address technical issues and improve D2L delivery of CPLED programs. - Crosstrain with other LMS Specialists. - Prepare, assign, and provide D2L access to students. - Update D2L when there are changes to students enrollment status (withdrawals, etc.). - Support grades transfer into the MemberPro student database system. - Support CPLED Admin mailbox in peak periods including sorting and assigning emails and tasks with other team members and taking on tasks personally, such as assisting students and contractors with D2L technical questions. - Provide support to the Programs Team with adhoc tasks as needed (i.e. openness to assist with emergency Simulated Client work in urgent situations. Full scripts and training will be provided.) - Work on and completing additional projects as required. Qualifications: - Post secondary diploma or degree in related field (Business, Technology, Administration, Education etc.) and 13 years of relevant experience. - Strong aptitude for learning and experimenting with new digital learning tools with a demonstrated passion for improving the learner experience through thoughtful use of technology. - Experience with digital learning authoring tools, such as: Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, Unity (3D), Canva, H5P, etc. - Experience with video and screencapture creation/editing tools (e.g. Camtasia, Captivate, etc.) to produce and refine multimedia learning resources. - Strong knowledge of learning management systems and digital learning ecosystems (preferably D2L/Brightspace), including course setup, content management, and learner support. - Experience leveraging artificial intelligence tools within and outside of software tools to improve efficiency and streamline processes. - Experience with elearning platforms, both asynchronous and synchronous. - Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail; proven ability to prioritize, exercise sound judgment, and manage highvolume workloads accurately and efficiently. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to deliver credible, professional service to diverse interest holders, including management, staff, students, and subject matter experts. - Possess intermediate Microsoft Office 365 knowledge (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) - Selfstarter with ability to manage diverse, highvolume workloads; meets deadlines under pressure with sound judgment, minimal supervision, and a flexible, teamoriented approach. #J-18808-Ljbffr
