IS2 Workforce Solutions is partnering with a fast-growing, Alberta-based busing company to recruit a Director of Care .We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and operationally strong Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to lead the program supporting medically complex students across school and community settings. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends clinical oversight, team leadership, scheduling, compliance, and family engagement. You will play a critical role in ensuring safe, high-quality care while supporting and developing a team of LPNs delivering essential services every day. What Youll Do: Clinical Oversight & Compliance Review and ensure accuracy of LPN documentation (progress notes, medication administration, seizure/suction logs, equipment checklists) Ensure incident reports are completed within required timelines and submitted appropriately Monitor adherence to best nursing practices, Alberta legislation, and regulatory requirements Maintain up-to-date care plans and ensure changes are communicated and implemented across teams Manage LPN scheduling, routes, and daily staffing requirements Oversee payroll inputs, adjustments, and compensation tracking Conduct regular LPN check-ins, team meetings, and performance conversations Lead onboarding, shadow shifts, and ongoing training initiatives Family & Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships with families, guardians, and care teams Conduct regular check-ins with parents regarding care quality and student needs Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and external partners (AHS, physicians, pharmacies) Operations & Program Management Maintain accurate student records, medical documentation, and compliance files Manage equipment procurement and ensure LPNs are properly equipped Coordinate incident follow-ups and communication across stakeholders Attend and lead meetings, documenting key updates and actions Recruitment & Development Partner with HR to recruit, screen, and onboard LPNs Identify and implement ongoing training opportunities (clinical and compliance-based) Track certifications and ensure licensing compliance (CLPNA) Develop and implement policies and procedures (e.g., sick calls, medication transport, handover protocols) Stay current with industry standards through webinars, training, and regulatory updates Lead initiatives to improve care delivery, team engagement, and operational efficiency What Were Looking For: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing with CLPNA 35+ years of clinical experience, preferably in pediatric or community care Leadership or supervisory experience in healthcare settings Strong knowledge of Alberta healthcare regulations and best practices Exceptional organizational and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with both clinical teams and families Experience with scheduling, payroll systems, or HRIS (e.g., BambooHR) is an asset Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
