Location: Calgary Head Office Department: Regulatory Reports to: Manager, Regulatory Policy Worker Type: Permanent Schedule Type: Full time Work Setting: InOffice Job Overview Trans Mountain is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to advance regulatory reform and policy initiatives that facilitate timely advancement of projects through federal and provincial regulatory processes. The role analyzes legislation and requirements, advocates to reduce unnecessary regulatory burden, and supports readiness to comply with new or changing regulations. Key Responsibilities Monitor legislation, policy changes, court cases and regulatory decisions relevant to Trans Mountains business. Undertake deep analysis of emerging regulatory proposals and existing issues, developing strategies and recommendations. Proactively communicate analysis, risks and solutions to impacted teams and leadership through briefs, executivelevel briefings, presentations and speaking points. Lead a team of subjectmatter experts to facilitate crossfunctional discussions, advance solutions and compile corporate responses to draft legislation or regulation amendments. Collaborate with industry peers (pipeline companies, industry associations) to align messaging. Serve as a trusted internal advisor to business units, project teams, and executives on regulatory and policy considerations that may impact capital projects, operations, commercial arrangements or longterm planning. Contribute to improving internal policy monitoring and issuemanagement processes to enhance efficiency, clarity and consistency of regulatory requirements. Qualifications and Professional Experience Postsecondary education in Legal, Public Policy, Political Science or Economics. 10+ years of progressive policy experience, preferably in the energy industry. Direct experience with regulation in the energy/pipeline industry, including federal, provincial (Alberta and BC) and US requirements. Understanding of and experience interpreting existing legislation and regulatory frameworks; ability to explore innovative pathways that achieve goals while driving process efficiencies. Understanding of Indigenous Peoples rights in Canada and the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Strong ability to work independently to undertake analysis and advance discussions, facilitating clear, datadriven positions and responses. Understanding of risk analysis and how risks and opportunities drive corporate priorities and advocacy positions. Ability to establish strong relationships within and outside Trans Mountain to advance outcomes in the companys interests. Proven track record of delivering highquality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization. Advanced communication skills, including conveying information clearly, respectfully and professionally.
