Overview Your Opportunity: Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services II (cleaner/housekeeper) who is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. This casual position is located at the Leduc Community Hospital. The Environmental II position is responsible for routine and isolation cleaning protocols, disinfecting of patient rooms, clinical spaces, common areas, floor maintenance and assigned medical equipment and manual material handling on a daily basis within healthcare facilities, in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Environmental Services work is done in areas where patients, staff and visitors are present and involves frequent interactions with patients, clients and staff. This position will also perform non-routine and deep cleaning tasks as assigned, so you must be willing to work with powered industrial equipment. Work at this level is differentiated from the ESI by a broader range and variety of routine and non-routine cleaning tasks, increased level of independence and problem solving. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, nights, and weekend shifts. Responsibilities Perform routine and isolation cleaning protocols and disinfecting of patient rooms, clinical spaces, common areas, floors and assigned medical equipment. Follow Alberta Health Services standards and practices; work in areas with patients, staff and visitors. Perform non-routine and deep cleaning tasks as assigned and operate powered industrial equipment as needed. Engage in safe manual material handling and maintain cleanliness of spaces in coordination with the healthcare team. Provide training or orientation to Environmental staff as needed. Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs of force. Additional Required Qualifications A minimum of 1 year of previous experience performing environmental cleaning duties in a hospital or institution is required. The ability to operate a smartphone device and basic computer knowledge to access email is required. To enable applicants to perform their duties safely, they must demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and follow written and oral directions in English. Must be dependable, thorough and be able to work with minimal supervision. The ability to work with chemical cleaners is required. The ability to operate powered industrial equipment is required. The ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs of force frequently is required. A combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered. All new employees will be required to attend a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1-day AHS Orientation.
