Job Description The Genetics Clinic at the Credit Valley Hospital is seeking a Genetic Assistant. Working collaboratively with the Clinical Genetics team, the Genetic Assistant will be responsible for providing operational support to MD and professional staff, and all other duties assigned in line with the scope of a Genetic Assistant. Qualifications BSc. in Biology or Genetics preferred Knowledge of genetics principles and theory Attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to work as part of a team and independently; professional and capable of developing effective working relationships Working knowledge of standard computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Experience in use of EPIC is an asset Well organized with effective prioritization and time management skills Previous related experience in a clinical genetics setting is an asset Responsibilities Prepare patients pedigrees; request past pedigrees from Medical Records as needed Provide patient health information to other professional staff Contact families, physician, and laboratories for further information Manage incoming genetics test reports via laboratory and providers portals Receive and distribute all patient test results to team membersCoordinate additional testing for patients following medical directives Track results and samples on patients using a database Send and track Release of Information consent forms Request variant reinterpretations from genetic labs Enter requests for ministry of health extensions Send letters, emails, and faxes to patients and professional staff Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail when performing a wide variety of tasks Perform all other duties consistent with the Genetic Assistant role as assigned Trillium Health Partners is an equal opportunity employer who values the importance of antiracism work and is committed to integrating antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion best practices throughout THP operations, policies and culture.
