Job Description

Sr. Rock Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineer Full-time Business Group: DCS Business Line: Environment Work Location Model: Hybrid Primary Location: CA - Mississauga, ON - 5090 Explorer Compensation: CAD 130,000 - CAD 180,000 - yearly Technical Expertise Conduct site reconnaissance and geological mapping focused on rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems. Develop computeraided geological models, profiles, and crosssections using AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or Leapfrog. Perform soil and rock excavation and slope stability analyses, and design mitigation measures. Plan and prepare geotechnical investigations, including insitu and laboratory testing, and interpret results to define design parameters. Prepare geotechnical design reports, specifications, and technical proposals. Design rock slope support for open cuts and provide geohazard and terrain hazard assessments. Design tunnels in both soft and hard ground using TBM and SEM (Sequential Excavation Methods). Design SOE (support of excavation) systems for shafts and cutandcover tunnels. Prepare contracts for geotechnical investigations, surveys, and construction works. Software Proficiency Utilize RocScience Suite (RocFall, Dips, RocPlane, SWedge, RocTopple, RSData, RS2, Slide2/3 or Slope/W, and Plaxis 2D/3D). Work with AutoCAD and ArcGIS for creating ground models. Preferred: Experience with Leapfrog for 3D geological modeling. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, tunneling, and hydrology experts. Liaise with contractors, clients, and local authorities to ensure project approvals and compliance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Rock Mechanics, or Rock Engineering. 6 years of experience in geotechnical design and numerical analysis. Proficiency in RocScience Suite, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. Strong technical writing skills for preparing reports, proposals, and specifications. Knowledge of geotechnical investigations, rock mechanics, and rock slope stability. Preferred Qualifications Masters or PhD in a relevant geotechnical discipline. Knowledge of geophysical survey methods, hydrogeology, and seismic design. Experience with geotechnical design for tunnels, hydraulic structures, and terrain hazard assessments.
