Intercultural Facilitator (CF) - Family Community Support Edmonton, AB, Canada Job Description Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a contract full-time, 40 hours/week, Intercultural Facilitator position located in our Edmonton region. Job Summary As an Intercultural Facilitator, you will be responsible for planning, designing, facilitating, and evaluating training geared toward promoting intercultural dialogue and increasing intercultural awareness and competence of Agencys internal and external stakeholders. You will keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of intercultural studies and practice. - Monitor newcomer trends and needs to develop additional programming and services. - Facilitate group sessions for clients and coordinate and plan group activities for gender-based client programming. - Cooperate to identify the needs of internal and external stakeholders with respect to intercultural education and training (e.g., tackling racism and various forms of discrimination to promote social justice). - Deliver trainings and client sessions both in office and in community-based settings. - Develop and maintain training curricula, materials, and tools (handouts, training manuals, and other visual materials). - Encourage and promote intercultural learning and awareness through coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating relevant training activities in the Agency and in the community. - Maintain accurate records and statistics related to participation, training feedback, and outcomes. - Stay current with the latest developments in the field of intercultural studies and practice. - Actively engage in outreach and promotional activities (e.g., ethno-cultural communities and mainstream groups; participation in conferences, networks, committees, etc.). - Perform other related duties as required. What This Job Requires - Diploma/Degree in Human Services or equivalent. - At least 2 years of experience as a Training Facilitator/Coordinator or a similar role. - Experience working with newcomers and other vulnerable populations, including ethno-cultural communities and faith groups. - Experience working on social justice projects. - Additional relevant certifications or designations considered an asset. - Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. - Successful completion of Security Checks, including Criminal Record Check (CRC), Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), and Childrens Intervention Record Check (IRC). Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, and Intervention Record Check are conditions of employment and the candidates financial responsibility. Knowledge - Sound knowledge of traditional and modern educational platforms and techniques; strong knowledge of community resources. - Knowledge regarding effective collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, professionals, and service providers. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and other Agency computer applications/databases (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, ShareVision). - Competence in using videoconferencing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex). Skills - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Strong public speaking and facilitation skills. - Demonstrates planning, organizational, and time management skills. - Strong assessment and critical thinking skills. - Acute awareness of and sensitivity toward those with diverse needs. - Strong leadership, effective resource management, and research skills. - Strong conflict management and crisis flexibility, and adaptability. - Proven problemsolving, critical thinking, and appropriate judgment skills. - Ability and willingness to travel, as required, to different offices, programs, and other sites to attend meetings, presentations, and/or training. Abilities - Work effectively as a member of multiple teams (e.g., Orientation and Cross-Cultural Counselling teams) within a large organization. - Recognize the limitations of the role and refer to additional resources and supports when necessary. - Work independently with limited supervision. - Work flexible hours and facilitate day-long training sessions. - Build and maintain relationships. - Manage sensitive and confidential information. - Deliver presentations/workshops and facilitate group discussions. - Multi-task, establish priorities, and take initiative. - Travel to different offices, programs, and other sites to attend/facilitate meetings, presentations, and/or training.
