Job Description

Our client is seeking a Labour & Employment Associate to join their Vancouver office. This is a strong opportunity for a junior to mid-level lawyer looking for hands-on mentorship, early client exposure, and a balanced mix of advisory and litigation work.The ideal candidate will have2+ years of labour and employment experience, though litigators looking to transition into employment law may also be considered.About the RoleYou will work closely with senior lawyers while also managing some files independently. The practice includes a mix of employer-side and plaintiff-side employment matters, with most files involving advisory work, negotiations, and settlements, along with some litigation.Responsibilities will include:Drafting demand letters, pleadings, applications, and settlement documentsSupporting partners on litigation filesManaging employment files from intake through resolutionConducting client consultations and providing practical employment law adviceRepresenting clients in mediations, discoveries, applications, hearings, and tribunal mattersAssisting with matters before the Human Rights Tribunal, Employment Standards, and other workplace-related forumsWhat Were Looking For2+ years of labour and employment experienceCalled to the BC Bar, or eligible and willing to be called in BCComfortable with advisory work, litigation, and client-facing responsibilitiesStrong drafting, organization, and communication skillsInterest in both employer-side and plaintiff-side employment lawComfortable working primarily in-officeComfortable with a 1200 billable hour targetMandarin language skills are an assetLitigators with a strong interest in employment law may also be considered.Why This RoleStrong mentorship from senior lawyersEarly client interaction and file responsibilityBalanced advisory and litigation practiceExposure to both employer-side and plaintiff-side mattersLower billable target than many comparable firmsOpportunity to build a practice and client base over timeCompensationThe expected salary range is$100,000 to $140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
