Engineering Technologist About the Role We are looking for a dynamic individual with excep onal customer service and technical skills. The Engineering Technologist is accountable for the design, planning, es ma ng, prepara on of bills of material and job instruc ons for electrical distribu on projects. Projects include overhead and underground electrical distribu on system design and planning (new and rebuild capital projects), streetlight systems, and new electrical service design (residen al, commercial, and industrial). This role also provides inputs to the scheduling and coordina on of project construc on. Du es include: Design, es mate, and plan jobs which includes preparing bills of materials, various projectsPrepare and oversee overhead and underground construc on contracts Assist in the prepara on of capital budget proposals Prepare technical reports including but not limited to, voltage drop/line losses calcula ons, fault current analysis and protec on coordina on, power quality analysis, pole loading analysis, line tensions, and cable pulling calcula ons Assist with any design clarifica ons, or recommenda ons Consult with customers and stakeholders regarding inquiries for exis ng and or proposed infrastructure, and incorporate feedback into the planning process Inves gate, review, develop, communicate, and enforce installa on standards and materials specifica on Maintain related field and office engineering records Administer the subdivision design process along with material approvals for developerdesigned, and construc on subdivisions Liaise with Municipal/Government bodies (Town of Oakville, Halton Region, and MTO), developers consultants for design, es ma ng, and planning purposes, and/or for required permits approvals Review Third-Party Overhead A achment Permits and Plant Design/Construc on Other du es assigned by supervisor Required Skills, Qualifica ons and Experience: Comple on of a 3-year Electrical Engineering Technology program at a recognized postsecondary ins tu on with a degree/diploma Registered as a Cer fied Engineering Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. (or be eligible for registra on) Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in overhead and underground distribu on system design, planning, budge ng, and construc on contract administra on Extensive use and strong knowledge of design work and project management Sound knowledge and understanding of electrical theory, and familiarity with power system opera ons, prac ces, and installa on standards Excellent working knowledge of Microso office programs, and related computer so ware applica ons Experience in safety as it relates to design and job planning Valid Class G Ontario Drivers Licence with an excellent driving record Effec ve communica on skills (wri en, verbal, and presenta on) Successful employees: Are customer-centric - they understand and embrace the role of delivering exemplary service Lead - they lead by example through their ac ons and a tudes Innovate - they look for opportuni es to improve, do things differently, and add value for our customers and business Commit to Excellence - in all that they do We promote a culture that is diverse, inclusive, innova ve, and performance driven in an environment that is fun and exci ng.
