Position Summary Reports To: Executive Director Position Status: Permanent Part-time Pay Method: Hourly $28-$34/hour Normal Work Week: Approximately 20 hours per week Next Step Hours: Mon - Thurs, 9 4 with evenings 4 9pm as required Additional Hours: Assigned hours above the Normal Work Week will be paid by wages. Purpose and Scope: To provide leadership in the development and delivery of program content at Next Step. This position contributes to the overall success of service provision as defined by our major funding partners and the Board of Directors. Responsibilities Manage program development and delivery for Next Step Ensure adherence to Ministry guidelines as detailed in the current Ministry Get SET Agreement. Research and recommend new group program offerings, facilitate delivery, and analyze trends to ensure programs remain timely and appropriate. Manage program delivery at satellite locations including Angus and Tottenham. Manage group program delivery through community partners. Participate in learner relationships from initial contact to ongoing progress assessments, including needs assessment, tutor matching, training plan development and revision. Manage tutor relationships from initial contact to recruitment, application, recognition, and hour administration. Analyze statistical information on learner exit to evaluate program success. Contribute to short and longterm strategic planning for program delivery. Identify and facilitate partnership opportunities for program development. Network with literacy organizations locally, regionally, and provincially; participate in Literacy Service Providers meetings and other professional development opportunities. Assist the Executive Director with MLITSD paperwork, including Ministry reports, Program Monitoring reports, Annual Business Plan, and inyear funding proposals. Ensure confidentiality of learner and volunteer files. Ensure adherence to the policies and procedures of Next Step. Instruction: Provide tutor certification and training, deliver instruction in English reading and writing, mathematics, computer basics, and life skills; provide ongoing tutor training annually. Ministry Documentation: Complete registration forms, enter students into the Ministry system, create training plans, update files, administer evaluations, oversee exits and followups, and confirm data accuracy. Financial Responsibilities: Participate in the disbursement of funds as directed by the annual budget for professional resources and resource materials; receive training fees. Board of Directors & Committee Support: Provide staff support to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and committee chairs; participate in monthly training activities; attend board and subcommittee meetings. Public and Media Relations: Enhance Next Steps public profile; interact professionally with public, learners, volunteers, staff, and partners; provide information and referrals; initiate and participate in promotional outreach; coordinate promotional events such as the AGM, Family Literacy Day, Spelling Bees, Alliston Potato Festival; respond to public suggestions, problems, and complaints per policy; act as liaison between the Board and tutor volunteers; participate in fundraising projects.
