Job Description

This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only. Reporting to the Senior Instructor, Academic Studies, the incumbent will instruct courses using a range of instructional styles, apply adult education principles and evaluate student learning. Working with coinstructors, the incumbent will ensure course delivery meets the Colleges policies and standards, is efficiently pursued, and is relevant to ongoing postsecondary education. The incumbent will partner in delivering services that support and provide guidance to learners, which aim to improve their success rates in further postsecondary education and entrylevel employment. Instructional duties will be assigned to a variety of courses offered through the Academic Studies section at Nunatta Campus. These courses include but are not limited to: Office Administration Certificate and Diploma, Adult Basic Education, ABE Essential Skills, and College Foundation Certificate. Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a Bachelor of Education with studies in a discipline appropriate to the Office Administration and/or College Foundation curriculum, two (2) years experience in the instruction and supervision of adult learners in a postsecondary setting; crosscultural experience with adult education, preferably in the North, is an asset. Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position. Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern crosscultural environment are also considered assets.
