Job Description

Role Summary Research Lead reports to the Director of Clean Growth and is responsible for leading research, analysis, and writing to advance evidencebased climate and cleangrowth policy in Canada. The role includes scoping, prioritising, managing senior and associate researchers, ensuring methodological rigor, maintaining regular contact with the Director, engaging with external stakeholders, and representing the Institute in the media. Primary Responsibilities Lead scoping, research and analysis, and writing for major projects and reports under the Directors direction. Manage up to two Senior Research Associates or Research Associates, overseeing their work, guiding daytoday priorities, and supporting their professional development. Maintain high standards of quality across research design, data analysis, and findingsensuring work is methodologically sound, accurate, and defensible. Maintain regular contact with the Director to ensure project scoping and methodological decisions align with the Institutes strategic priorities. Keep uptodate, indepth expertise on major Canadian economic sectors, including electricity, mining, buildings, heavy industry, and transportation. Support the Director in coordinating with External Affairs colleagues. Act as the primary point of contact for approved media outreach, communicating research insights and positioning the Institutes work in the public conversation. Lead or participate in meetings with external stakeholders, as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications and Skills Masters degree in Public Policy, Economics, Environmental, Sustainability, Climate Change Studies, Resource Management, or a related field combined with relevant policyresearch experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex research findings into clear, compelling language for diverse audiences. Experience supervising junior or midlevel researchers. Significant experience (5 years) leading and managing complex research projects, preferably in a policyoriented environment. Strong command of quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the judgement to identify weaknesses and uphold quality standards. Understanding of the current political and policy environment regarding climate action, economic growth, and business competitiveness. Strong projectmanagement skills, including overseeing external consultant contracts and managing project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Experience presenting research findings to public audiences, policymakers, and stakeholders. Legal authorization to work in Canada. Additional Assets Professional fluency in English required; fluency in French considered a significant asset. Established network of contacts within the Canadian financial, business, and/or climatepolicy community. Knowledge of Canadian electricity systems. Benefits and Remuneration Competitive salary: $95,000$115,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Flexible, fulltime (40hrs/wk) salaried position with occasional travel. Remote work from anywhere in Canada with support for homeoffice setup. Four weeks of paid vacation plus federal statutory holidays and additional paid days off at yearend. Up to five days of unpaid leave per year to participate in traditional Indigenous practices. Option to substitute statutory religious holidays for cultural holidays observed.
