Unit: Governance and Compliance Position: Governance and Compliance Intern Reports To: Assistant Commissioner This internship will provide the opportunity to receive sports administration education and training in one of the premier Division I collegiate athletic conference offices. This position will be exposed to and involved in the ongoing development of West Coast Conference initiatives, providing handson experience and learning opportunities, particularly in the areas of compliance, studentathlete involvement, and governance. Principal Functions 65% Assistance with the Conferences compliance services. NCAA and WCC compliance record management, education and interpretations. NCAA and WCC waiver administration. NCAA violation administration. NCAA legislative process and proposal tracking support. Participate in preparations for meetings and conference calls, as appropriate. NCAA committee tracking and reporting. 15% Assist with the Conferences governance and studentathlete services. Governance process and proposal administration support. WCC StudentAthlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) support. Conference research related to governance recommendations and/or sport administration. Participate in preparations for meetings and conference calls with WCC Cabinets, Committees, and Head Coaches groups, as appropriate. Attend the Executive Council meetings in October and June. 10% Assist with the Conferences championships and events. Specific duties as assigned at the 2027 WCC Mens and Womens Basketball Championship in Las Vegas. Other opportunities to work at WCC championships and events. 10% Other projects and responsibilities based on areas of interest and experience. Additional Information. The start date of the internship is tentatively August 3, 2026, and the end date is June 30, 2027. This is a 20houraweek internship with hours arranged with a supervisor. The intern will be paid $18.00/hour, and the internship does not include benefits. This position will be based out of the WCC Office in San Bruno, CA. Some travel will be required. The 2026-27 WCC Championship dates are listed below and availability to attend is expected for some or all of the following championship dates: Fall 2026: Cross Country Oct. 30; Mens and Womens Soccer Nov. 11-14; Mens Water Polo Nov. 20-22; Winter 2027: Mens and Womens Basketball March 4-9; Spring 2027: Womens Golf April 23-25; Beach Volleyball April 29-30; Mens and Womens Tennis April 29-May 1; Mens Golf April 30-May 2; Softball May 13-15; Rowing May 14-15; Baseball May 26-29. Preferred Qualifications and Requirements Demonstrated experience with the WCCs core values of integrity, servant leadership, inclusion, excellence, innovation, communication, and collaboration. Demonstrated enrollment towards or completion of, a Bachelors, Masters or equivalent degree required. Athletics administration and/or sports management experience or related volunteer experience preferred. Demonstrated highlevel proficiency in Microsoft programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficiency and experience with Apple computers and operating systems and Adobe Creative Suite preferred. Effective professional communication, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in drafting and editing written communications.
