Job Call Media Art Programming Intern (2026) Digital Arts Resource Centre (DARC) seeks a Media Art Programming Intern to facilitate DARCs summer and fall education programming and media art public programming. Digital Arts Resource Centre is a not-for-profit, artist-run media art centre that fosters the growth and development of artists through access to equipment, training, mentorship, and programming. Our mission is to support a diverse community of media artists empowered by technology, programming and the exchange of ideas. Reporting to the Education Manager, the Media Art Programming Intern will support the implementation and execution of Digital Arts Resource Centres artistic, educational and media art programming, both in person and online. They will join a team of dedicated artists and arts administrators who are passionate about Ottawas media art community. The intern will utilize their knowledge of media art programming and production for a diverse range of media art related activities that focus on supporting the skill-building of Ottawas digital media artists, including but not limited to DARCs artists-in-residence, media art production fund recipients and youth programming (with a focus on film/video production, sound and animation). They will also work closely with the Technical department to support our members needs and the technical production of media arts works. DESCRIPTION OF TASKS Work with the department leads to propose, build and support educational and artistic programming that is relevant to media artists in Ottawa and DARC members; Support membership through administrative tasks like answering emails, supporting registrations and membership inquiries, supporting onsite connections with members; Connect with partners and organizational members to support their work and programming in DARC spaces; Support DARCs summer Video Camp for Youth+ programming, supporting queer and racialized youth (aged 1317) and instructors through handson programming support and coordination for video and filmmaking; Help test and ensure accessibility of production and postproduction support and artistic learning tools; Undertake technical training for project and learning tools at the centre so as to be familiar and efficient in providing production and postproduction support; Participate in the feedback loop for all DARC programming by attending staff and departmental meetings, being engaged and actively participating; Collect, disseminate and report on qualitative and quantitative data throughout the duration of the internship; Enhance ones own artistic skills and abilities by participating in learning opportunities and workshops for media artists in Ottawa. QUALIFICATIONS Returning postsecondary student in the Fall semester of 2026 (SeptemberDecember), from a recognized postsecondary institution and program related to this role; University (all levels) or college student focusing on arts administration, arts education, creative industries management, fine arts, film or broadcast production, notforprofit leadership in the arts, media art or multidisciplinary media production, and/or equivalent public art education and community art programming; The student must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and legally entitled to work in Canada; Knowledge of artistrun centres, media arts landscape and nonprofit/charity organizational structures; Strong administrative skills, organizational skills and excellent time management; detail oriented; Strong communication skills; confident in speaking with members and the public in person, by phone and by email; Experience or education in film or media art production, including knowledge of production and postproduction digital media resources is a strong asset; Technical knowledge in DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Creative Suite, as well as other Media Art or Sound Art technical resources is a strong asset; Ability to take initiative and work independently but also work collaboratively with colleagues and partners; Experience working with, or having lived experience as, equitydeserving Youth from diverse backgrounds is strongly desirable; Strong inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) awareness and ability to perform duties with care and consideration through these lenses; Ability to work in English; ability to communicate in French or another language considered a strong asset. COMPENSATION Salary : Term Contract position of 500 hours between July 6 to December 18, 2026; $20.00 per hour. Schedule : Full time for the summer (8 weeks) and parttime in the fall (avg. 1516 hours, or 2 shifts, per week); Possibility of extension if other funding is secured. Please note that all staff will be required to work at DARCs annual garage sale on July 11, 2026 (Saturday). This position is funded by the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) of Employment and Social Development Canada, through the stewardship of Culture Works Canada. This position is a member facing, onsite role at Arts Court in downtown Ottawa that will fit within DARCs working hours, 105 PM (MonWed) and 106 PM (ThursFri). There is no parking on site, Arts Court is a 5 minute walk to the Rideau and uOttawa LRT stations and is fully accessible. All staff must make themselves available to be onsite as scheduled by management or as required by their duties outlined above. Occasional after hours, weekend and offsite attendance may be scheduled or requested as necessary for public programming events.
