We welcome applications for the role of Stroke SpeechLanguage Pathologist on the Stroke and Neurology Inpatient Unit at St. Michaels Hospital. In partnership with patients and families, our team delivers care grounded in respect, accessibility, and inclusive, personcentred practice. Duties & Responsibilities Provides evaluation and management of swallowing and communication disorders. Works effectively as a member of an interprofessional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care. Contributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource, or support for staff and members of the academic and professional community. Identifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families. Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development to continue to provide optimal patient care. Participates in ongoing quality improvement and/or research in the organization. Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards. Provides antioppressive and accessible care for all patients. Qualifications Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and SpeechLanguage Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas. Must hold a Masters degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology (or equivalent). Current BLS (or willingness to complete within probationary period). Experience with assessment and management of communication and swallowing for patients who have experienced a stroke or various neurological disease presentation is preferred. Experience with videofluoroscopy and holds current certification or is willing to obtain training in Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImp) training. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fastpaced environment. Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills as relates to patient care. Demonstrated advocacy, commitment to, and involvement with the profession preferred (e.g. involvement with professional association, representation on relevant committees).
