Program Overview Step into your nursing career with confidence. Join Albertas Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program (GNTPP). The 12month program is structured into two phases: Phase 1 Enhanced Orientation: you will work supernumerary and be paired with a Clinical Guide to develop a personalized learning plan. Phase 2 Independent Practice with Support: after Phase 1 you transition to independent practice with an assigned mentor available for the remaining 12 months. You will apply for positions of at least 0.5 FTE in a similar setting, preferably within the same unit, program, site, or office after you transition to independent practice. Responsibilities As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations. Through critical thinking, problemsolving and decisionmaking, you will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and families. You will support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance, and deliver safe, quality, patient and familycentered care in alignment with the organizations vision and values. Compensation Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate following AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii). Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLSHCP) certification. Eligibility restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program. Must not yet have obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications Recent experience on a general internal medicine unit as a student or undergraduate nurse employee. Preferred Qualifications None specified.
