About the Job Are you a collaborative scientific leader with a passion for protecting water quality and advancing environmental science? Responsibilities Lead collaborative provincial water monitoring programs Provide authoritative scientific leadership and strategic advice that supports environmental protection Work with a skilled team and a broad network of partners to deliver credible, forwardlooking water science Shape how Ontario understands and protects water quality Work at the intersection of science and policy, translating water quality data into advice for decision makers Play an important role in identifying emerging issues and ensuring Ontarios water monitoring is responsive and futureready Technical Skills Apply principles and theories of water quality monitoring to plan and implement projects and programs Analyze and interpret water quality data to support environmental reporting and decisionmaking Apply knowledge of environmental legislation, standards, and water policy to evaluate data and ensure regulatory compliance Perform complex statistical analysis, trend detection, and data visualization to identify patterns and communicate findings clearly Apply scientific research principles to lead research and provide advice on emerging contaminants and issues of concern Project Management and Leadership Skills Lead and manage multiple mediumtolargesized projects using established planning and management methods Direct water monitoring program teams and chair working groups and task teams Manage project budgets using financial and accounting processes Manage staff, equipment, and laboratory resources to support effective and timely service delivery Research and Analytical Skills You have the ability to: Identify emerging environmental and waterrelated concerns through scientific analysis and monitoring Use complex scientific findings and turn them into clear, practical policy and program advice for decisionmakers Communication and Relationship Management Skills Write and edit strategy, policy, program and planning documents, scientific papers and reports, and correspondence Lead presentations, briefings, committees, and working groups Use software tools for planning, complex statistical analysis, and presentations Build consensus and represent the ministry in consultations with diverse stakeholders Create and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships What You Bring to the Team We recognize that no single candidate may possess every qualification listed.
