Role Overview Clipwire Games is growing and looking for a Senior Backend Developer to own and evolve the technical infrastructure that powers our mobile game experiences. This role is ideal for an experienced backend developer who can operate autonomously, drive technical decisions, and contribute meaningfully to the broader development team. You''ll work closely with Product, Analytics, and Development to design and maintain backend systems that are scalable, reliable, and costeffective ensuring our infrastructure supports both our players and our business as we grow. You bring deep technical expertise and strong architectural instincts while remaining closely involved in execution. What Youll Do Own the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex backend systems and infrastructure Lead the development of internal tools from concept through to production deployment Architect scalable, secure, and costeffective backend solutions aligned with business needs Proactively identify and address performance, reliability, and cost optimization opportunities Act as an escalation point for complex backend and infrastructure issues Review and approve code contributions to ensure high technical standards across the team Mentor Junior and Backend Developers, supporting their technical growth Clearly prioritize competing technical initiatives and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders Propose and drive improvements to backend architecture, tooling, and development workflows Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Handson experience across several AWS services, such as EC2, RDS, ElastiCache (Redis/Valkey), Redshift (or Snowflake/BigQuery/Databricks), Glue, Firehose, ELB, S3, DynamoDB, VPC, CloudFront Deep understanding of relational databases (MySQL and Postgres), indexing strategies, and performance tuning Comfortable working with Docker and containerized environments Confident use of Git, SSH, and Linuxbased environments Experience designing and reviewing scalable backend architectures Strong proficiency in backend languages and frameworks, particularly PHP or Node.js Experience debugging distributed systems and resolving production incidents efficiently Clear, structured communication of technical decisions and tradeoffs to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders Demonstrated ownership over medium to large technical initiatives Ability to balance delivery speed with code quality and longterm maintainability Working at Tripledot 15 days holiday in addition to bank holidays to relax and refresh throughout the year with every 5 years of service, youll receive an extra 5 days! Hybrid Working: We work in the office 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wednesday is an optional office day. Lunch is provided on all 3 days. Clipwire Games provides a competitive total compensation package with a payforperformance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this Canada based position is $100,000 to $130,000. Base compensation at Clipwire Games is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge, skills, and experience. It will also be determined based on the position offered and any other forms of compensation that may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and other benefits.
