PositionTechnical Specialist Hematology (Brampton, ON)SummaryThe Technical Specialist supports test design, evaluation, validation, and verification of hematology assays and processes, assists with implementation of new products, develops SOPs, and maintains quality assurance activities.ResponsibilitiesSupport test design, evaluation, validation, and verification of hematology assays and processes.Assist in implementing new products and services into routine production, including SOP development and ongoing QA program activities.Act in a consultative manner with Operations Managers, providing wellreasoned advice on methodologies while ensuring quality processes.Evaluate new methods, instrumentation, and workflows per the Hematology Scientific Director and prepare necessary documentation for QA and accreditation compliance.Submit MFM requests and support LIS interface UAT testing.Assess and validate methods; operate, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot instrumentation in a clinical setting.Transfer learning to ensure new processes are implemented and maintained, leading training and troubleshooting after implementation.Support administrative activities for operations and business plan fulfillment.Coordinate project plans and activities, providing functional and technical expertise; give status updates to the Director and stakeholders.Maintain project records and documentation.Develop, maintain, and oversee a hematology quality control program.Create competency assessment tools for staff.Ensure delivery of optimal product and service development results against performance metrics.Establish, monitor, measure, and report performance metrics; analyze issues impacting operational performance and initiate continuous improvement.Partner with stakeholders to ensure quality and performance measures meet policy, compliance, or regulatory requirements.Conduct original research and prepare manuscripts for publication.QualificationsMinimum BSc in a related scientific discipline or Medical Laboratory Technologist with advanced training.Registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) preferred.Knowledge of advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation (automated highthroughput testing, microscopic analysis, flow immunophenotyping, hemostasis testing, immunohematology, immunoassays).Knowledge of fundamental diagnostic laboratory principles, specifically in Hematology.Demonstrated excellence in technical, developmental, problemsolving, and project management skills.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, team building, and ability to initiate and model positive change.Understanding and experience with advanced instrumentation and technology.Proficiency in scientific writing, including drafting and submission of manuscripts for publication.Oral presentation skills.Technical skills to verify/validate methods, including both automation and manual, and understanding of best practice/technical guidance documents (e.g., CLSI).Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., EP Evaluator) preferred.Project management skills preferred.Knowledge of MFM submissions and LIS interface UAT testing requirements.Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles.Working ConditionsMedical Laboratory Environment.Occasional local or national travel may be required.BenefitsJoin an awardwinning 'Top Employer' with meaningful and impactful career opportunities.Access a health and wellness benefits program that supports you and your loved ones.Grow and thrive with a dynamic, successful company through internal mobility opportunities.Invest in your future through RRSP match benefits and an employee stock purchase program.Experience a collaborative, diverse workforce that prioritizes dignity and respect for all.Pay RateAnnual salary range: $72,000 to $90,000.
