Mortgage Underwriter (RECA Licensed) Benchmark Mortgages | St. Albert (Hybrid) | Full-time (MonFri, 8:304:30) Before we get excited: licensing is non-negotiable You must have an active Alberta Mortgage Broker license (RECA) in good standing. The opportunity (serious work, great environment) Were hiring a Mortgage Underwriter whos detail-driven, proactive, and calm under pressure. Youll be the person who keeps deals clean, compliant, and moving from application to funded, while working closely with our brokers and partners. Your day-to-day (key responsibilities) Underwrite and review mortgage applications: income, credit, assets, liabilities, supporting docs Structure deals across purchases, renewals/transfers, refinances, equity take-outs, rentals, and more complex scenarios Build strong lender submissions that are complete, accurate, and positioned for approval Track conditions and commitments and guide the file through signing and next steps Own the file flow from submission to funding, staying ahead of deadlines and key dates Coordinate partners (lenders, BDMs, realtors, appraisers, lawyers, insurers) to keep things moving smoothly Problem-solve early when something feels off, and collaborate quickly on solutions Keep files audit-ready and compliant with RECA, AMBA, FINTRAC, and federal requirements Support occasional post-funding requests like documentation follow-up or servicing changes What you bring Must-haves Active RECA license (Alberta) in good standing 2+ years underwriting experience, or 2+ years mortgage brokering with strong underwriting exposure Strong lender guideline knowledge (banks, monolines, credit unions, alternative lenders) Comfort with CRMs, document systems, lender portals, calculators, and esign tools Bonus points for experience with Blu Mortgage (CRM) MortgageBOSS MS Office Products, SharePoint Equifax/Verifast Lender portals and insurer portals (CMHC, Sagen, Canada Guaranty) Youll fit best if youre Meticulous and organized (you spot what others miss) Clear and kind in communication Solutions-focused and steady when timelines get tight A team player who enjoys contributing to a positive environment Compensation & perks (clear and simple) Position Type : Full-time, salary + commission, hybrid work-from-home option Base Salary Range : $50,000 $60,000 (dependent on experience) Target Total Compensation (Base + Commission) : $80,000 $120,000+ Benefits : Commissions are provided in addition to base salary.
