Our Chalk River location is seeking a Manager of Environmental Management Systems, Audits, Inspections & Legal Obligations to lead the management of environmental requirements under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Apply today! What will you be doing! Supporting and implementing deliverables of the Environmental Protection Program for Environmental Management System (EMS). Overseeing and facilitating EnvP (Environmental Protection) Program awareness training for facilities and managers across CNL, as well as the EnvP Program staff training plan. Leading and managing the company wide applicability of Canadas Impact Assessment Act (IAA) and associated legislation. Providing company wide support, as needed, for successful interpretation and implementation of legal requirements and obligations. Supporting and organizing audits and inspections of the EnvP Program (planning, coordination, execution, closeout) Ensuring operational compliance with regulatory requirements. Providing input and managing annual branch budget, financial expenditure approvals and annual budget forecasting. Managing employees and providing daytoday oversight to staff to deliver results in line with the teams goals, ensuring quality of the work performed, safety and compliant and efficient operations. Other duties as assigned by your manager. What We Are Looking For Education Science or Engineering degree at the bachelor level as a minimum, from an accredited university. Experience Minimum of 10 years experience gained through leading in a scientific and/or nuclear environment in areas related to Environmental Management. Experience managing staffing functions at the branch level, including hiring, training, succession planning, with mature leadership competencies in organization and administration. Experience working in a heavily regulated environment, dealing with federal and provincial requirements. Demonstrated experience and success in leading multidisciplinary teams. Experience with policy and procedural documents pertaining to environmental impacts and assessment of activities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proven ability to interact with authorities and agencies at various levels and functions. Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers, internal and external clients. Strong presentation and public speaking skills, effective oral communication, and skilled meeting management. Excellent writing skills with the ability to gather, analyze and assemble a variety of technical information and to present the information in an accessible manner to non-technical audiences. Knowledge around working with public and members of Indigenous communities. In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial, federal, and international standards and guidance as they pertain to environmental and public safety. Knowledge of the environmental aspects of nuclear site operations is required. Security Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat''s Standard on Security Screening and the Policy on Government Security. Working Conditions Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week. May require additional hours and travel for benchmarking, annual conferences, and/or workshops, and meetings with federal authorities and/or regulators. Fieldwork requires strong knowledge of technical and safety procedures, situational awareness, and the use of related equipment. The work is generally performed in an office setting within a larger building at the Chalk River Laboratories site, which may at times require attendance at offsite locations. Why CNL?
