Global Markets Corporate Banking (GMCB) is an integral part of BMO Capital Markets Global Markets group, providing lending and trading expertise across sectors and establishing credit facilities to support global markets business. Overview of Role This role requires an experienced senior corporate banking leader with deep understanding of trading product structures. The portfolio responsibilities include both Commodities and Diversified Products, covering single product relationships across a range of trading products. Expertise in the commodities sectorincluding carbonas well as bespoke trading products for diversified industry clients is essential. The role demands a strong ability to assess unique client trading product needs and deliver innovative solutions to clients and internal partners. Responsibilities Be a member of the GMCB leadership team and a key contributor to the overall success of Global Markets. Coordinate and collaborate with line of business partners to drive business and execute growth plans. Manage the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals. Exhibit a track record of building new businesses and initiatives in various global jurisdictions. Integrate new trading products into the Banks risk framework. Serve as a team role model with a clientcentered approach. Contribute insights and recommendations through analysis of data and information. Identify risks, gaps, and process improvements. Monitor productivity against benchmarks and eliminate inefficiencies. Deliver open communication internally and with key business partners in other areas of the bank. Lead, mentor and develop a crossborder team. Liaise with regulators as applicable. Broader accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Product Knowledge The precious and base metals industry: transactional structures, inventory financing, physical and financial trading, prepayments, leases, consignments across jurisdictions and industries. The carbon market: project development, inventory financing in both voluntary and compliance markets, derivative trading with carbon credits. The oil and gas markets: client relationships and security structures for trading agreements, both financial and physical trading, and inventory financing. Broad understanding of trading products for diversified clients. People Management Manage a diverse crossborder team across grade levels. Lead a team capable of delivering targeted business results. Effectively influence and gain support from other areas of the bank. Attract, retain, and develop top talent. Improve team performance, recognize and reward performance, coach and develop employees, including managing underperformance. Strategic Focus Collaborate with sector coverage relationship partners to generate ideas, identify client solutions, pursue sector marketing efforts, cover clients, and deliver timely solutions. Recommend business priorities, advise on resource requirements, and develop roadmaps for strategic execution. Develop and leverage relationships across lines of business, executives and external clients to support coordination. Monitor client, industry and regulatory changes that may affect portfolio and business needs. Act as trusted advisor to the Global Head of Global Markets Corporate Banking on business decisions and strategic initiatives. Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decisionmaking. Exhibit expert understanding of business/group challenges and create solutions. Apply expertise creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations. Communicate abstract concepts in simple terms. Risk Management Obtain high signing authority in prior roles and operate as a senior specialist resource. Understand transaction complexity and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, reputational, jurisdictional); ensure these risks are reviewed and assessed by the team. Balance the banks risk appetite with client and business needs, proactively taking accountability for assumed risks. Ensure policies and guidelines are adhered to and updated to reflect changing risk appetite. Guarantee systems, reporting and controls are robust and risk is mitigated. Maintain current, accurate, and relevant risk management and compliance reports. Integrate risk, internal controls and compliance into daytoday accountabilities and adhere to policies and procedures. Qualifications Minimum 15 years of experience, with expertise in corporate banking global markets. MBA or equivalent experience in financial services, with emphasis on credit, risk management and sales. Credit qualification. Change management and leadership experience in a global business context. Expertise in business development with demonstrated excellence in crossselling. Resultsoriented with ability to identify opportunities and handle multiple priorities. Experience working in a dynamic environment. Salary Base salary: $225,000 CAD. Pay type: Salaried. Total compensation may include performancebased incentives and discretionary bonuses.
