Job Title: Superintendent (Commercial Construction) Job ID: 87156 Location: Grande Prairie, Alberta Overview Our client is a dynamic and growing general contracting firm known for delivering high-quality commercial and residential construction projects across Alberta. They are seeking a proactive, experienced Site Superintendent to lead day-today site operations and ensure construction projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires a handson leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage subcontractors and trades with professionalism and efficiency. What you will be doing: - Lead all onsite activities and maintain consistent progress toward project milestones and performance targets - Collaborate with the Project Management and Estimating teams to resolve design, engineering, or construction issues before they impact the schedule - Coordinate, supervise, and inspect the work of all ACL staff and subcontractors - Maintain site safety in compliance with ACLs safety protocols and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations - Prepare daily site reports, safety documentation, and submit records to head office as required - Provide orientations to new staff and subcontractors based on ACLs safety program - Oversee site cleanliness, organization, and security, including lockup procedures and afterhours access for trades - Monitor and approve onsite time tracking for ACL staff - Identify and report equipment needs, perform routine safety inspections, and ensure only trained personnel operate machinery - Assist in training, mentoring, and skill development of site staff - Coordinate manpower and equipment logistics to support companywide objectives - Schedule and lead regular site meetings with subcontractors and office staff - Order and track materials, assist in identifying lead times, and maintain awareness of contract scope items - Review workmanship quality, enforce contract compliance, and lead deficiency resolution - Promote a teamfirst mindset and represent ACLs values onsite through leadership, accountability, and integrity What you must have: - 10+ years of handson construction experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role - Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings - Deep understanding of Alberta Building Code and construction best practices - Familiarity with a wide range of scopes including framing, rebar installation, concrete forming and finishing, siding systems, thermal and moisture protection systems, millwork, and interior/exterior finishing - Ability to manage temporary utilities (power, heat, lighting, air circulation) for site setup - Experience using surveying tools, setting anchor bolts, and interpreting elevations - Effective trade coordination, scheduling, and conflict resolution skills - Strong communication skills with owners, architects, consultants, and trades - Proven track record of maintaining safety standards and leading toolbox talks and orientations - Valid drivers license with clean drivers abstract - Ability to travel or coordinate accommodations for outoftown work if required Preferred Attributes - Passion for teaching, mentoring, and growing others - Strong organizational and time management abilities - Willingness to adapt, learn, and contribute to a growing and innovative team - Solutionfocused mindset with the ability to anticipate problems and respond proactively - Leadership presence that fosters respect, accountability, and team cohesion Salary/Rate Range: $110,000-$120,000 Thank you for your interest in this opportunity.
