Our Markham-based client is a technology and manufacturing company specializing in advanced cooling and heat transfer solutions that improve production efficiency, preserve product quality, and reduce energy use for industrial and food processing customers. Their patented systems deliver precise temperature control and scalable performance for demanding manufacturing environments. They are looking for a handson Purchasing & Inventory Manager to roll up their sleeves and lead inventory planning, vendor management, purchasing execution, and logistics routing in a fastmoving entrepreneurial environment. You will work closely with Operations, Sales, Accounting, and the Shop Manager to optimize inventory levels, manage vendor relationships, coordinate physical and virtual inventory controls using systems like Fishbowl Inventory, and support ontime delivery of final products while considering shipping costs and tariffs. Fishbowl Inventory experience is a required. Responsibilities - Develop purchasing strategies and manage endtoend purchasing processes to maintain adequate inventory across raw materials, service parts, and finished components. - Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate terms, pricing, lead times, and delivery expectations. - Evaluate suppliers on cost, performance, quality, and tariff impact to support costeffective procurement decisions. - Oversee inventory systems and processes (including Fishbowl Inventory) to ensure accurate virtual counts, reorder points, and forecasting. - Coordinate regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts to reconcile system versus actual inventory. - Partner with Sales and Operations to match inventory planning with sales forecasts, booked orders, and deposit requirements. - Work closely with the Shop Manager, Operations, Accounting, and Sales to ensure inventory and purchasing support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. - Support transparent communication across teams on parts availability, anticipated shortages, and lead time risks. - Evaluate and map costeffective shipping routes for final product delivery, considering freight costs, carrier performance, customs/tariffs, and customer delivery windows. - Collaborate with logistics providers and internal teams to reduce lead times and minimize shipping costs while maintaining delivery reliability. Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain roles in a manufacturing environment. - Strong experience with Fishbowl Inventory. - Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and optimize supply chain outcomes. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to forecast demand and adjust inventory strategies. - Excellent communication skills to work crossfunctionally with operations, sales, and finance teams. - Engineering background or experience would be a plus. - Negotiation & Supplier Management. - Analytical & ProblemSolving Skills. - Attention to Detail & Organization. - Process oriented with a demonstrated mindset towards continuous improvement.
