Job Summary Reporting to the Regional Director, the Senior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for responding to tenders, bid requests, or RFQs in the commercial and institutional market by developing accurate, complete and competitive estimates for tenant improvement projects. The estimator will review estimates with Project Managers, Service Managers, and/or Foremen and occasionally with the Regional Director. The estimator works with PMs and SMs from various departments within Ainsworth. Key Responsibilities Conduct a thorough review of specifications and drawings. Develop thorough material and labor take-offs. Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders/bid requests. Review estimate with Project Managers, Service Managers and/or Foremen to ensure all aspects are in agreement with labor, material, equipment and subcontracting costs. Prepare tenders by quantifying, organizing and tabulating all material, equipment, labor, and subcontract costs needed to complete the project. Liaise with Procurement to assist in obtaining pricing on aspects of the estimate. Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-offs, project closing and operational/sector meetings with the Regional Manager, Project Manager, Service Manager and Purchasing when required. Provide guidance on opportunities regarding viability, win potential, extras, and risks to help the team target the best prospects. Prepare risk review for the Project Manager and/or Service Manager to assist in collaborative estimate review. Assist the sales force in developing proposals as required. Review tender closing documents and obtain signed/sealed bonding/insurance certificates. Track all bids and proposals in an Excel sheet and submit to Project Admin for entry into the CRM tool. Utilize estimating software, working to enhance and streamline it with the software provider for Ainsworth. Qualifications Minimum 58 years estimating experience in a trade background or a degree/diploma in electrical engineering or technology. Experience producing design-build proposals and estimates. Proficiency with ACU-BID estimation software. Trade certificate is an asset. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
