A Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family care on an acute surgical unit in accordance with RAH and AHS policy and procedures. The Surgery Inpatient program maintains the expectation that all employees do so with pride, compassion, and respect. PCU 32 is a 23-bed unit providing care to orthopedic fractured hip patients. Patients are received from the operating room, emergency department, intensive care units, and directly from home and/or medical clinics. We have modified nursing care on all shifts with Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Health Care Aides working cohesively within the collaborative model of care. Unit orientation will be established based on experience. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line; supporting and maintaining high quality patient care strategies within the Surgery program. RNs are expected to direct and monitor the care provided by Health Care Aides and support their LPN peers. RNs are expected to take on the responsibility of charge nurse as required.
