Deployment & Special Events (Maternity Term - 12 Months) Position Description The Deployment & Special Events Assistant supports the Deployment & Special Events Coordinator in the planning, organization, and delivery of deployment and reunification services for families of deployed members. This role also assists with the delivery and facilitation of Deployment events, programs, and services offered by the Shilo Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC), with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for military families. Duties & Responsibilities Promote awareness of deployment programs, activities, and resources, and provide referrals through warmline phone calls/emails and the deployment newsletter Conduct intake phone calls and respond to emails from prospective clients, connecting them with appropriate, individualized resources and supports Assist with the organization and delivery of support programs for partners of deployed members and their families, responding to evolving needs Provide administrative and organizational support to the Deployment & Special Events Coordinator Assist with the collection, tracking, and data entry of statistics required by funders and SMFRC evaluations, including month-end reporting and record keeping Oversee the Morale Mail program including notifying staff and community members of process changes, delivering packages to the appropriate outlet, assisting community members as required and maintaining supplies as needed Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of Deployment events and community events, including deployment-related programs Prepare materials and supplies for events, pack and transport items, and act as second-in-command during events Assist with event takedown, including cleaning, sanitizing, packing, transporting items, and returning supplies to the office Participate in and assist with MFRC-wide special events as required Represent the Shilo MFRC in a professional, ethical, and positive manner at all times Adhere strictly to all Shilo MFRC policies, procedures, and practices Attend staff meetings as required Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the position Qualifications & Requirements Strong values alignment and cultural fit are key; we support skill development for the successful applicant Related experience required; related education is considered an asset Previous experience assisting with event and program planning, coordination, facilitation, and implementation Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with community members, staff, volunteers, and partners Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Proven ability to manage competing priorities, sensitive information, and accurate record keeping Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and databases Current and clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (mandatory) Familiarity with the military lifestyle and English-French bilingualism are considered assets Valid Manitoba drivers licence preferred Terms of Employment Anticipated start date: July 15, 2026, however, with the possibility of an earlier start. Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week Scheduling Requirements: Daytime, evening and weekend shifts Compensation: $20.50 per hour Additional Compensation: Mileage reimbursement available for travel of 16 km or more for work purposes Reporting to: Senior Family Liaison Officer and Deployment & Special Events Coordinator #J-18808-Ljbffr
