**About The Role:**Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services, and Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Financial Planning & Operations is responsible for leading the organizations accounting, financial operations, and financial planning and analysis functions. The role places a strong emphasis on forward-looking financial analysis, accounting integrity, and business partnership with operational leaders, while ensuring sound financial controls, disciplined processes, and service excellence. The incumbent will ensure timely, accurate, compliant and insightful financial information supports strategic decision-making, operational effectiveness, and stewardship of resources in alignment with Bethanys mission, vision, and values.**What You Will Do:****Essential duties, responsibilities, and performance measures****Financial Planning and Analysis:**Lead the development and coordination of the annual operating and capital budgets, working closely with departmental leaders. Oversee rolling forecasts, multi-year financial plans, and scenario modeling to support strategic and operational decision-making. Analyze financial and operational results to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance gaps. Support business cases, investment evaluations, and funding decisions through robust financial analysis.**Financial Reporting:**Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and governance bodies. Lead management discussion and analysis (MD&A), focusing on drivers of performance and variances to plan. Ensure financial reporting aligns with internal policies, external requirements, and organizational commitments.**Financial Operations:**Oversee core financial operations including accounts payable, billing and revenue recognition, accounts receivable. Ensure accurate and compliant transaction processing and reconciliations. Implement and refine financial policies, procedures, and controls to support consistency and reliability.**Compliance and Risk Management:**Responsible for the internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) program. Ensure compliance with legislation, agreements, and internal policies. Coordinate external audits and support audit readiness and action plans. Oversee the effective use, optimization, and continuous improvement of financial systems, notably Workday, related tools and team processes.**Treasury and Cash Management:**Monitor and manage the company''s cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and investments. Partner with the CFO on banking relationships, cash management practices, and working capital optimization.**Team Leadership and Service Excellence:**Promote Bethany''s service excellence program and lead by example across the Finance department. Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Establish clear performance goals for finance functions and partner with leaders across Bethany to align financial insights with operational priorities.**Qualifications****Education*** Bachelor''s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.* Professional Designation: CPA or MBA with equivalent senior-level experience in accounting, financial planning, analysis, and financial operations.**Experience*** 810+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting functions.* 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership position in a finance team.* Experience leading accounting, operations and FP&A in large organizations.* Experience working in environments with ERP and integrated financial systems (e.g. Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle). Workday-specific experience is an asset.**Additional Essential Skills*** Extensive knowledge of accounting standards (e.g. ASPE), experience with accounting standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (NPO) an asset.* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.* Strategic critical thinking and attention to detail to ensure mitigation of errors.* Ability to partner effectively with operational leaders and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.* High ethical standards with a commitment to transparency and accountability.* A mindset focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and learning.* Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with excellent written and oral communication skills.* High ethical standards with a commitment to transparency and accountability.**Service Excellence:**At Bethany, Service Excellence is the core of our mission.
