Employee and Labour Relations Consultant Location: Toronto, ON Hybrid Business Unit: Human Resources Grade/Band: Band 6A Shift Work: No The successful placement within the range will depend on qualifications, relevant work experience, and other applicable considerations. What youll do In this role, youll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through: - Providing expert guidance on collective agreement administration, grievance management, performance management, discipline, and compliance with applicable employment legislation and organizational policies. - Developing and delivering training on legislative and collective bargaining updates. - Fostering productive relationships between management, employees, and stakeholders. - Participating in collective bargaining, preparation, assisting in proposal development meetings, conducting research and analysis, maintaining records, and developing strategy. - Supporting dispute resolution processes, such as mediation and arbitration. - Maintaining records of employee and labour relations matters, preparing reports, memos, etc. - Making sound and databased insights and recommendations through tracking and analyzing trends. Typical day - Act as a trusted advisor to HR partners and leaders coaching, counseling and guiding them on people matters. - Provide interpretation of collective agreement provisions. - Support the grievance and arbitration process, from intake to resolution. - Prepare reports, guidelines and provide analyses of workplace trends. - Coordinate and attend meetings with various stakeholders in support of the dispute resolution processes. - Partner with leaders to proactively monitor and identify emerging labour relations risks, trends, and legislative changes. - Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of labour relations practices, frameworks, and training. Role Requirements - Postsecondary education in Labour or Industrial Relations, Law, Human Resources Management, or a related field. - Minimum 46 years of experience in labour and employee relations, with experience in the broader public sector and/or heavily unionized environments. - Strong knowledge of labour relations and employment legislation (e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act). - Ability to analyze and interpret data sets, identify trends, and present findings through reports and dashboards. - Ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, managing expectations across unionized and management groups. - Strong judgement, communication and influencing skills to provide strategic advice and achieve desired outcomes. - High level of attention to detail. - Professional certifications such as Certified Human Resources Practitioner (CHRP) designation, Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), or equivalent are an asset. - Project management expertise to implement employee and labour relations programs/processes and work with crossfunctional teams is an asset. Work Location and Schedule The IESO currently has a 3day inoffice work week for applicable roles and may be based at either our downtown Toronto or Mississauga office, subject to your preference. Over the course of 2026, the IESO will advance plans to acquire additional office space to accommodate more inoffice time.
