Salary: $85000 - $90000Role Status: Current Opening Design Engineer Supervisor Overview The Design Engineer Supervisor acts as a handson Design Engineer while overseeing a group of Design Engineers. In addition to the Design Engineer responsibilities, the Supervisor is responsible for distributing workload, measuring throughput and performance, and reviewing and coaching their team. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Engineering and liaising continuously with our Sales Consultants, the role contributes to overall company performance by helping us win new business and opportunities while ensuring that designs maximize material yielding and minimize labour steps without sacrificing product protection. Responsibilities Provides supervision to a group of Design Engineers Manages workload amongst the group Provides coaching, training, and support to their team Manages deliverables and metrics such as design turnaround, sample delivery, production spec accuracy Collaborates with staff from sales, customer service, manufacturing and shipping departments to optimize package design Drafts specifications for corrugated, polyethylene foam, polyurethane foam, wood, and other materials Utilizes 3D modelling software to analyze customer CAD data and develop solutions/proposals Analyzes cushion curves and material specifications to design around customer product shock tolerances Performs and/or oversees the design of the finished packaging, emphasizing function and cost efficiency Performs and facilitates package testing (ISTA, FEDEX, etc) Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to develop packaging concepts and production drawings Researches and introduces prototype packaging using traditional and innovative materials Participates in administering the First Article process for the facility, ordering, and inspecting tooling and completed parts Reviews NCRs and validates effectiveness of resultant Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) Performs other duties as required Requirements Degree or Diploma in Package Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required Five years of experience in package design preferred Minimum one year of supervisory experience Extensive knowledge of packaging material and design Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical and problemsolving skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Proficient with AutoCAD #J-18808-Ljbffr
